Master’s Degree

Since 2004 the International Scientific-Educational Center of the NAS of RA has been carrying out master's educational activities for the purpose of integrating different branches of science and education. The International Scientific-Educational Center of the NAS of RA has been authorized to carry out educational activities with a master's program, which can become a practical system for the selection and preparation of personnel for science and higher education.

The organization of the master's educational program in the NAS RA system aims to speed up the process of transition from education to scientific activity. Most of the country's scientific potential is concentrated in the National Academy of Sciences, and the training of masters in the academic environment will allow them to quickly integrate into the scientific community and develop scientific thinking faster than it happens today. The academic master's degree was chosen as the main form of education. Here, the master's students will obtain professional knowledge, while the main emphasis will be put on research studies, which will end with the defense of the master's thesis.

There are about two dozen departments of specialties in the International Scientific-Educational Center of NAS RA. Master's studies are based on basic undergraduate education and lead to a master's degree. There are no restrictions on the selection of applicants, but the admission is carried out on a two-stage basis: an interview, then an examination, the aim of which is to make the selection as successful as possible.

Since 2019, admissions have been made in the field of "Archaeology" and "Ethnology"; scientific and educational activities are directed by the relevant chair of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia. The latter operates in the Center of the National Academy of Sciences of the RA NAS, the head of the chair is the director of the Center, Associate Professor, PhD, A. Hayrapetyan.

The admission of applicants is made by the general committee composed of the teaching staff of the chair and the educational part of the master's degree. The entrance examination questionnaires include such questions that provide an opportunity to thoroughly check the applicant's professional knowledge.

The basic education of the students is different: history, archeology, ethnography, etc. The chair comprises the best scientists of the republic, who have many years of experience in scientific and educational activities.

The International Scientific and Educational Center, being in the center of science, has set itself the goal of making scientific thought accessible to students, teaching them to think scientifically. This requirement is imposed during the entire study period at the master's degree.

Special attention is paid to the issue of choosing the theme of master's theses. The themes of master's theses are selected as a result of joint discussions between students and faculty members of the chair and are approved by the scientific council of the Shirak Center for Armenian Studies NAS RA. The student is required to participate in these discussions. Young scientists who have successfully completed their master's degree can continue their studies in post-graduate studies, both full- time or part-time.

All the literature of the fundamental library of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the professional library of the Shirak Center for Armenological Studies, are available to students. With a special permission, master's students can also use the archive materials of the National Archives, RA Ministries and Departments.
